Electroliquid Aggregation

Two Concepts

Farshid Moussavi
  • Material Consistency
Luis Barragan
  • Integrating into environment
Electroliquid Aggregation
  • The use of materials for the creation of a structure allows the building to establish its place in the environment

  • Common materials used for the creation of a structure allows the building to establish its place in the environment

  • The natural environment is manipulated by humans to allow the construction of a structure with a high level of consistency throughout it. The structure should compliment its natural surroundings.

Experiment 2 - Concepts

Farshid Moussavi
  • Fusion of culture and the environment
  • Growth and decay of the life of materials
  • Material consistency
  • Abstraction diversity
  • Control of light

Luis Barragan
  • Creative manipulation of natural light to colour
  • Integrating the environment with the structure
  • The use of colour to enhance the structure
  • Structure solidity
  • Emotional architecture

Sketchup File of Developed Model

My sketchup file was too big to be shared into the 3D warehouse, my developed model can be found in the following link:

Final Developed Sketchup Model
This is the final developed sketchup model, I changed the section and started fresh. I wanted to continue to develop buildings that followed the philosophy of the two designers. I also focused a lot more on the two words to develop the section, they we're accelerating and precision. Therefore I changed my initial idea of created a building out of spheres, ovals etc and focused on creating a building with clear defined dominating lines. I wanted to design a building that was interesting and unique.

7 Images of 2 Draft Sketchup Models

My first draft sketchup model
I wanted to create a model with the intend of literally recreating the designers object. I wanted to create a motorcycle like building for Shinya Kimura and a circular sushi building for Jiro Ono. But After talking to Vinh, he wanted me too not be limited by the space, rather than creating 2d shapes, he wanted me to create 3d objects. For instant, where there were circular prism, he wanted me to create spheres instead.

My second draft sketchup model
For my second draft sketchup model I attempted to follow Vinh advice. My initial intend change, instead of create literal object, I wanted to create buildings that recreated their philosophy when coming to their practice. When I researched Shinya Kimura, I always felt like he was a innovator, his buildings are unique and out of this world. Therefore I wanted to create a building that was innovative and extraordinary. Whereas for Jiro Ono, his craft of making sushi is simple and minimal as a result I wanted to create a building that was uncomplicated and straightforward.

Staircase Inspiration

When I was designing the overall model, I wanted my design to be minimalist and simple. Therefore I wanted this message of simple to come across from the stair cases. As Ludwig Mies van der Rohe said "Less is More"
